Kyrgyz ambassador to Great Britain, Kuban Mambetaliyev, has named prominent opposition activist Omurbek Tekebayev as the most probable replacement to President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, reported Fergana.
“We have serious and tough political figures in our country. I believe one of those is Omurbek Tekebayev and I suppose that he can become the third president of Kyrgyzstan, when the second president of the country concludes his constitutional terms of service,” said Mambetaliyev, according to the news source.
Omurbek Tekebayev joined the opposition in 2005, shortly after then Kyrgz president Askar Akayev fled the country and was replaced by Bakiyev as head of state. Tekebayev was the creator of the political movement “For Reforms!”.
