The lower house of the Byelorussian Parliament adopted a law on April 2 that envisions a ban on the promotion of certain types of products, reported
Telegraf. Starting January 1, 2008, the new law will prohibit the advertisement of cigarettes, as well as the advertising of beer from 7am to 8pm, not only in the media, but also on banners at mass gathering locations. Special limitations are also set on advertising breast milk substitutes, as well as medications.
The news source also reported that under the law, during prime time Byelorussian TV channels will be allowed to dedicate only 18 minutes per hour to commercials.
