Belarus ranks first among CIS member-states in the number of women serving in parliament, Belta information agency was informed at the press office of the United Nations Belarus office. These results are included in a U.N. report analyzing womens rights around the world, which was presented at a New York U.N. headquarters event marking International Womens Day, detailed the news source.
According to the report, women comprise 29.1 percent of federal lawmakers in Belarus. Overall, Belarus occupied 21st place among 189 countries by the level of female representation in parliament. In the same ranking Russia was number 99, Ukraine was 105, Armenia was 123 and Kyrgyzstan was 138, reported Belta.
