The President of the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia Sergei Bagapsh, on the second anniversary of his presidency on February 12, posted an announcement on his official website, detailing the progress achieved by his administration over the past two years. Among the success stories it mentioned the improvement of the self-proclaimed republic’s image in the world, as well as its wider recognition. Other achievements were the consolidation of society, economic progress and increased friendship with Russia. The latter, as Lenta.ru reported, was stressed to be the foreign policy priority of the Abkhaz government during Bagapsh’s presidency.
