Aleksandr Grigoryev, Editor in Chief

Before coming to Washington ProFile in 2001, Aleksandr worked as a fellow at the International Center in Washington, DC. He received his bachelor's degree in journalism from St. Petersburg State University in Russia and earned a master's degree from the St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance. Aleksandr also studied at Leipzig University in Germany and Kalmar University in Sweden. For nearly seven years, he worked as a political and economic analyst at the largest business newspaper in northwest Russia, Delovoy Peterburg, where he won several professional awards. He is a regular commentator on Russian and Eurasian affairs for media outlets like the BBC, Voice of America and RFE/RL, and is frequently invited to speak at Washington-based events on issues concerning the former Soviet Union. Aleksandr is the author of "Russian Media and Unfreedom of the Press," a chapter in the book International Communications: A Media Literacy Approach (2004).

Marina Isupova, Managing Editor

Marina has been with Washington ProFile since June 2005, regularly contributing articles and analysis to the project's flagship publication.  In addition to her daily editorial duties, she is also actively involved in the promotional and organizational aspects of the project.  Marina received her bachelor’s degree in international and area studies at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to joining Washington Profile, Marina worked as a teacher of English in Lyon, France and as a research assistant at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.  Earlier, she conducted independent research in Switzerland and the Russian Federation on issues related to post-Soviet Russian youth and managing highly-skilled migration from the Federation. 

Irina Gotman, Database Administrator

Irina worked as a software developer at Titan Corporation developing financial management systems for the U.S. Department of the Navy prior to joining Washington ProFile in November 2004. Originally from Russia, she graduated from the Department of Applied Mathematics at the State University of Nizhny Novgorod. Before coming to the United States, she worked as a software engineer at the Moscow-based Radio and Design Company (MRMU) and, later, as a library system developer in Kiev, Ukraine.

Eteri Tsintsadze, Intern

Eteri (Etuna) Tsintsadze is a graduate student of International Peace Studies at the Kroc Institute of Notre Dame University. Etuna earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from Tbilisi State University and completed two years of graduate coursework in personal and counseling psychology.  In 2004-2005, Etuna was an international relations specialist at the Department of Youth Affairs at the Ministry of Culture of Georgia. Before coming to the United States for her studies, Etuna worked for the Foundation for Development of Human Resources, where she mainly dealt with issues related to interethnic relations.
