As reported by Day.az, in order to further develop the country’s IT sector, Azerbaijan will be turned into a regional innovation zone (RIZ). It has been forecasted that once the RIZ is implemented, Azeri revenues from information technologies will constitute $4 billion by 2012, and approximately $12 billion by 2020.
The news source also reported that according to information distributed by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, U.S. consulting company Booz-Allen-Hamilton has presented the Azeri president with a package of suggested economic initiatives that could be undertaken within the republic with regards to the IT sector.
