Azerbaijan is conducting negotiations with Georgia, Russia and Turkey to establish a joint energy system, reported Regnum, citing information provided by the Vice President of AzerEnergy Marlen Askerov. According to Askerov, Russia is in charge of one of the energy systems located on the border of Georgia and Turkey and intends to involve Azerbaijan in its management.
“Although today we can work with Georgia and Russia individually… What Russia suggests is to transport electricity through Azerbaijan to Georgia and from there to Turkey,” Regnum quoted Askerov as saying.
According to the vice president of AzerEnergy, the transit tariffs proposed to the Azeri side are acceptable. “Russia will pay for the transit and take care of the technical expenses,” added Askerov, as reported by the news source.
