Nino Burjanadze, the chairwoman of the Georgian Parliament, was recognized to be the most powerful woman politician in Georgia, according to a survey conducted by the Kviris Palitra newspaper among 366 Georgian respondents, reported Svobodnaya Gruziya. Burjanadze was named to be the strongest female lawmaker by 97 percent of the polled, earning her 7.6 ranking points out of a possible 10.
The survey results put Salome Zurabishvili, former minister of foreign affairs and leader of the political party “Georgia’s Path”, in second place, granting her a total of 6.2 points. Tinatin Khidasheli, a member of the Republican Party received five points and occupied third place in the rankings.
The “powerful trio” was followed by the leader of the parliamentary majority Maya Nadiradze, a MP from the “Right Opposition” party Pikriya Chikhradze, the chairwoman of the parliamentary Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee Elena Tevdoradze, and the leader of the “Hope” party Irina Sarishvili. The lowest points, based on the citizens’ votes, were assigned to MP Nino Kalandadze.
