Job Market to Improve in Armenia

A series of ongoing surveys conducted by Ameria Company among Armenian employers show that an approximate 5.5 percent job increase is expected in the Armenian labor market in 2007, reported Noyan Tapan information agency. Among the surveyed employers, 23 percent predicted up to a 10 percent growth in annual average salary in the coming year, while 11 percent envisaged a salary increase of up to 20 percent during the same time period, according to the news source.

This study of the labor market was conducted by Ameria during February-May 2007, under the Social Protection Sector Management Program which was funded by the World Bank. The surveys also revealed that during the hiring process, the majority of employers in Armenia place as much emphasis on a candidate’s computer skills as they do on his/her level of education.
