BELARUS: Union State’s Budget for FY2008 Announced

The budget of the Russia-Belarus Union State will exceed 5 billion Russian Rubles (RUB) in 2008; Pavel Borodin, the secretary of the Union State, told journalists gathered at a press conference on April 17, reported Belta. Aside from the contributions of the two member states, this amount will also include resources that were received from the payoffs of previously granted loans, added Borodin.
The 2007 budget of the Union State is almost 3.8 billion RUB. The Union State’s current budget is 40 times bigger than the budget of the CIS and 100 times bigger than that of the Eurasian Economic Community, reported Belta.
