GEORGIA: Dozens of Tax Services Staff Detained

In an unprecedented sweep, criminal police forces of the Georgian Ministry of the Interior, in conjunction with the General Prosecutors Office, on 13 March arrested several dozen employees of the Tax Services of Georgia, reported News Georgia, citing information provided by the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Interior Shota Khizanishvili.  The arrested were suspected in corruption, according to Khizanishvili, who did not specify the exact number of persons detained.
According to the news source, during the sweep, which lasted the entire day, the Tax Services building was cordoned off by forces of the Interior Ministry.
