Minsk to Counter Russia’s Energy Blackmail with Ukraine and Lithuania

Belarus is actively pursuing diversification of energy delivery sources, on February 15 announced the Press Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Belarus, Andrey Popov, reported Korrespondent.net. The statement came a day after the President of Lithuania Adamkus announced the development of a joint project together with Ukraine and Belarus which envisions to set-up an alternative energy delivery system through the Rotterdam oil terminals in case of an emergency shut-off of Russian supplies. Lithuanian President noted that “As is Ukraine, Belarus is subject to the manipulations of Mr. Putin. Creation of such a system will allow us to safeguard ourselves from oil blockades on the part of Russia,” informed Korrespondent.net.
