Electricity Rationing Introduced in Dushanbe

Limits on electricity usage have been introduced in the Tajik capital Dushanbe, regnum.ru reported on 6 April, citing Tajik Energy Ministry spokesman Nozirdzhon Yedgori. According to Yedgori, electricity usage has been curbed primarily due to critically low water levels at the Nurek Dam. Electricity will be shut off to households between the hours of 11 o’clock in the evening to five o’clock in the morning. Currently, all regions of the country other than Dushanbe are supplied with electricity 4-6 hours per day. (www.regnum.ur, April 6)
