Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov signed off on an investment project for the state gas firm Turkmengaz to rebuild a gas-collecting system at the Odzhak-Nayyp group of gas condensate fields and a gas-compressor station at the Nayyp field at a total cost of $72 million, rusenergy.ru and Interfax reported on March 10. A source at the Turkmen president's press service told Interfax that Niyazov signed a corresponding resolution on 9 March, with the aim of “increasing the export potential of the gas sector, by reviving natural gas production at gas condensate fields in the latter phase of their development, and by introducing progressive, state-of-the-art gas production technology."
