Tajik Lawmakers Ratify EurAsEC Accord on Border Security Cooperation

The Tajik parliament on 15 February ratified the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) Border Security Cooperation Agreement, regnum.ru reported the same day. The accord, which obligates Tajikistan’s border security forces to cooperate with those of other EurAsEC member countries in the event of emergency situations on the group’s external borders, went into effect immediately following its ratification. The EurAsEC, whose members are Uzbekistan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, was created in 2000. (www.regnum.ru, February 15)
